Chip and Joanna Gaines catapulted themselves to stardom shortly after their HGTV hit show Fixer Upper aired on TV. America couldn't resist their wit, and down-to-earth charm. Not to mention, Joanna has a way with interior design like nobody's business.
I won't lie...she's my design idol.
I'd soak up every last bit of ideas and inspiration she would give on each new episode, read anything I could, blog, Pinterest, google her just to find ways she has decorated specific spaces. And then I found out she's a Christian, a God loving woman after my own heart...and ya'll, you could say I was hooked.
You might call it an obsession (welcome to the club, right?!). And that's ok. I am completely okay with being one of the millions of Americans who swoon over the beautiful spaces that Chip and JoJo create.
We want to recreate some of the Magnolia Market magic in our own homes, making warm inviting spaces that are just...yummy! Well you can...and it's super easy. I'll show you, keep reading!
1. Use just a few signature pieces that are different/meaningful to you
Whether it's an old family heirloom, or just a knick knack that represents something important to you...find a place to display it on a shelf where you can be reminded of its importance and share with others. The key here is to just pick one or two. You do not want to overload your shelves with these items. If you have trouble deciding between important pieces, then resolve to rotate them. Give each piece some time to be on display and then switch them out. You'll feel good about using all of the important family heirlooms and changing up decor will keep the space new and exciting!
2. Mix whites and woods
This simple approach is so in right now. Not too long ago white accents and decor took the scene, but wood accents are back making a style statement. So if you have lots of white, find some accent pieces to mix in. A picture frame, bread bowl, or sign would be a great place to start!
3. Go monochromatic
This is a signature Jojo design trick! Walls, baseboards, furniture, etc. are all monotone colors so that you can feel free to create different looks and feels with pops of color. It's like having a blank palate from which to decorate for all times of the year. Right now, I'm loving the pop of green in my home. With spring on the horizon, I'm yearning for some green so I added a great little wreath to my fireplace. It was super easy and added the perfect touch or color I needed.
4. Lighting is everything
Switching out an outdated light fixture can completely change a room! I love these globe chandeliers, but really...the possibilities are endless.
5. Farm tables, farm tables, farm tables
Farm tables just have a simple way of calling everyone to the table. Something with a great solid wood top, and chunky legs can be the perfect centerpiece for your dining and entertaining space. Pair your new table with some great solid black chairs and you will have to make up an excuse for a dinner party!
See, I told you it was easy! Now...I'd love to hear how you bring the Magnolia look to your homes! Share with us!
