Restoration Emporium at the Country Club Plaza

So by now, you have probably heard that we are opening a location on the Country Club Plaza. We are all still a little bit in shock over the reality of how this all even happened. There is so much I want to tell you! I know you have questions too, so I am hoping this will help to answer some.

A few months ago we were contacted about whether we would have any interest in joining the Plaza as a retailer. I remember the girls walked in to give me a message in the office and I had to ask her to say it twice. "The Plaza? Wow. Okay."

This began conversations, tears, prayers, fear and a call to us that said yes. There is so much going on right now. We are packing inventory, making a punch list, hiring staff and still working non-stop to manage our other amazing stores.

In the midst of all the craziness, I have to tell you about this amazing building. The Plaza Theatre was built in 1928. Unfortunate to our love of history there isn't a lot left in the building currently that lends to its past. We did, however, find a few photos to show you a few things we can still see.

In this picture of the outside, we do still have the metal overhang above our front doors. The base of this structure is part of our signage outside.

The next photo of the stage/screen if you look to the far left of the picture you can see some art painted on the wall. This art is still on the walls and we are working on getting some photos taken of it currently to share with you.

The final picture of the stairs shows a painting at the very top of the steps on the wall. Although, the stairs are gone the painting is still there. The ceiling in this mezzanine area is still as beautiful as in this picture. There is still a spirit of excitement in this space. You can feel it.

We are excited to bring her to life in a new way for Kansas City. We are a family owned and operated business. Restoration Emporium loves everything about our wonderful city and its many amazing communities. We could not be more excited and honored to be part of the Plaza Theatre's history and future.
