I bought my bar cart about six months before I actually moved into my apartment. I was out shopping one day and saw this cart had been marked down a few times. My guess is because it was dirty, old and had not been repurposed (or even wiped down for that matter). Since I work at RE my wheels started spinning about how I could clean it up and repurpose it how ever I wanted.
After I had pinned about a million different repurposed bar carts I eventually decided to keep it as is because after cleaning it up and giving it a good scrub it matched that section of my home perfectly. But I had completely forgotten about what really mattered about having a bar cat, styling the bar cart. I didn’t want to just throw glasses and bottles on there randomly, so I made a plan:
1. Look at each shelf/tier and decide how you want to organize it. This can be based on color, size or shape.
2. Lay out anything and everything that you could and would want to put on your bar cart.
3. Organize into different sections based on how many shelves you have.
Since I had three shelves and one of them is a little taller than the rest, I decided to put books standing up down there along with a decorative bowl for a wine opener and miscellaneous accessories. I knew I wanted bottles, colorful glass and colorful accessories on the top shelf so I decided to put all my clear glass in the middle.
After I decided what I wanted on each shelf I placed everything on the shelves and just started moving things around to figure out if it looked better symmetrical or asymmetrical on the shelf (it looked better symmetrical in this case). If they didn’t fit I moved to a different shelf or just took them off the cart and put them back in my cabinet.
After I was done styling my bar cart I added a colorful pillow to my chair and hung up this colorful, champagne-themed art to tie it all together. Overall, I am THRILLED with how it turned out because I had been pretty unhappy with how empty that part of my home looked and now it is my favorite part!
