There are so many variations of farmhouse style. There is the traditional farmhouse which is anything wonderful and old. buffalo check napkins, milk glass serving pieces, and your mom's favorite dishes. Then there is the NEW farmhouse brought to us by Joanna Gaines and so many other wonderful bloggers. This is layers upon layers of neutral, grays and textures.
Then there is cottage farmhouse which has a little more shabby chic to it. This is where JoJo and Martha Stewart become Bffs! I tend to find myself lost in the middle of these last two styles. I wander back and forth from the love of layers and textures in table settings but then I still find myself looking at the China with pretty pink patterns and wanting to add lace somewhere on the table.
There is really no right way to setting your table for a family gathering. Etiquette directs us on how to lay our dishware and how and what to serve. But as far as laying out your table for your guest, you can just do what makes you happy!
Easter is one of the only big holidays that I host. I love setting my table a day or two ahead of time. I like adding fun gifts for each guest even if it's just a simple candy. You don't have to spend hours at this unless you want to. You can even get your kids involved in the prep of the table!
We have lots of fun things you can use at the stores right now that will make setting the table even more fun. Come by this week and let us help you. Bring one of your own dishes with you and we can even help you pick a few accents to go home with.
Take some time to enjoy this spring season we are in and have fun with your Easter tables!
