Since its emergence into to vintage and farmhouse inspired home decor scene in 2012 RE: has followed four basic principles:
restore • repurpose • refinish • renew
These four words became a mantra that echoed through the store and the products produced by its vendors, but they also shaped the way that RE: became involved in giving back to the community.
One employee who fully encompassed these principles and truly renewed everyone she met was Quincy Foster. Tragically, on January 1, 2015 Quincy was in a car accident and passed away, but that is not the end of the story. After Quincy's passing, her family and friends decided to honor her memory by establishing LQVE HAITI.
As a college student at MidAmerica Nazarene University, Quincy took a trip to Haiti in 2013. It was during this time she realized a desire to spend her life helping others through nursing. By the time she returned home it was obvious she was captivated by this thought! LQVE HAITI is a way of expressing love to the country of Haiti as well as honoring the life of Quincy Foster.
Quincy loved to write, draw, paint and sing. Below you'll find the contents from a journal retrieved from her car the day after the accident. They represent some of the verses she had worked on and prayed over in the last few weeks of her life. Quincy's family and RE: have worked together to create prints of this artwork to raise funding for the Quincy Foster Memorial Scholarship at MidAmerica Nazarene University. This Endowment will help fund mission trips for future nursing students at MNU.
Currently, copies of three of the artistic Bible verse prints (Romans, 1 Corinthians & 1 Thessalonians) are available to purchase for $24 with free shipping anywhere in the US. These uplifting Christian home decor pieces featuring Bible verses allow Quincy’s spirit to inspire others while providing financial support to a cause she lived each day.
